How to install BBC iPlayer on Android
There are several methods than can let your change the region of your Google Play Store, however the majority of these are fairly complicated and require root access. Thankfully we've figured out a much easier that doesn't require any of that nonsense.
- From your phone start by clicking this link: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/bbc/bbc-iplayer/
- Scroll down until your see a list of download links with the All versions heading.
- Click the download button on the latest version of the app.
- Your phone might prompt you about a setting currently enabled to prevent installing "unknown apps". You can read more about it in this article here. This setting is to prevent harmful apps from being installed, however in this case ApkMirror is a reputable website and you can even compare the MD5 hash of the apps to make sure they are legitimate. Follow the directions the prompt provides to enable the setting.
- Once the app has downloaded, go ahead and install it.
- When you first launch the app and try playing a video, the app will prompt you to download the BBC Media Player app. The link it provides you to the Google Play Store should be available to download from any country, but if for some reason it isn't, simply search ApkMirror for the app and download it.
That's it! You now have access to hundreds of on demand and live BBC programming on your Android phone completely free :) This article assumes you have already configured the DNS on your Android phone. If you haven't already done this, simply follow our Android setup guide to do so.
